Aamir backs Kiran Bedi as new RTI chief

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and several campaigners have written to the Prime Minister to appoint Dr Kiran Bedi as the next Chief Information Commissioner (CIC).

The post of the CIC was made vacant after Wajahat Habibullaha took early retirement to join the Jammu and Kashmir Information Commission.

The appointment is likely to be made this week. A committee consisting of the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition and Law Minister would choose the next CIC.

A number of other eminent people have also expressed a desire that Ms Kiran Bedi be appointed as the CIC.
